Happy Independence Day
Reading America history reminds us of the great sacrifices made by early Americans to secure our freedom and liberty. It is difficult for us to understand the tremendous social pressure that existed to be loyal to the King of England during those days. The fact that some men and women placed their fortunes and very lives at risk in order to be free of a system that kept common people in subjection to a royal throne must not be forgotten. If we forget, we are certain to be overtaken by another tyrannical system of government in the future. We must be ever vigilant in order to remain a free people.
The greatest freedom ever achieved was purchased at a much higher price. It was the price Jesus paid at Calvary for us to be free of the shackles of sin that held us as prisoners. Trusting Him, and what He did for us on the Cross, broke the chains and set us free. And, if Christ has set you free, you are free indeed.
Enjoy the holiday surrounding our political liberation, and rejoice daily in the blessing of being set free forever by our Lord. It is wonderful to know that once Christ has set you free, you can never be held under the system of bondage that once gripped you.
