Bad Dad At The Game!

I read somewhere a story about a bad dad at a ballgame. The story went as follows.

At one point during a game, the coach called one of his 9-year-old baseball players aside and asked, "Do you understand what cooperation is? What a team is?"

The little boy nodded in the affirmative.

"Do you understand that what matters most is whether we win or lose together as a TEAM?"

The little boy said, "Yes."

"So," the coach continued, "I'm sure you know, when an out is called, you shouldn't argue, curse, or attack the umpire. Do you understand all that?"

Again, the little boy nodded.

He continued, "And when I take you out of the game so another boy gets a chance to play, it's not good sportsmanship to call your coach bad names is it?"

The little boy agreed.

"Good," said the coach. "Now go over there and explain all that to your father!"

A dad can be a terrible example in his attitude and actions. Children are watching, but so is everyone else. A father must be careful to exemplify the best in character to his children. Don't let a teacher, coach or other adult have to train your children not to act the way you do as a father!
