Bio of Dr. James McCullen
James McCullen is pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Piedmont Missouri. Piedmont is 45 miles Northwest Of Popular Bluff, 75 miles west of Cape Giradeu and 60 miles Southwest of Farmington. We are about 120 miles South and West of Saint Louis Missouri. The church is affiliated with the Missouri and Southern Baptist Conventions.
James is married to Christa, and they have two married daughters. They have eight grandchildren all of them are perfect little angels. They will be happy to tell you more about them if you dare ask.
James McCullen received a B.A. Degree from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Illinois, with a major in speech. He earned a Master of Divinity Degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. For his doctoral project he preached a series of sermons on the family.
Dr. McCullen served as an adjunct instructor at Southwest Baptist University Center in Mountain View. He taught, Introduction to the Old and New Testaments, and a Discipleship Class, called The Christian Faith and Life. He has also taught Fundamentals of Communication.
Dr. McCullen has served as Vice President, and President of the Missouri Baptist Convention's Pastor's Conference. He presently serves the President of the Mineral Area Baptist Association Pastor's Conference.
He believes that the Bible is truth without any mixture of error. I am comfortable using the words, Inerrant, Infallible, and Inspired, to describe my view of the scriptures. God is the creator, and sustainer of life; Jesus is the only way of salvation, and the Holy Spirit empowers believers to live the Christian life. The Bible teaches Jesus is coming again, and we should be zealous in our efforts to win the lost.
He affirms the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
If a person is called of God, in agreement with the Word of God, he should be careful to preach the Word of God. The preacher should diligently seek to be an expositor of the scriptures. God has promised to bless His Word, not the cleverness or cuteness of the minister.
Most of his sermons are expository (or at least textual) in nature. A few of them will be textually topical, but in all of them it is his desire to exalt the Lord and His Word.
