Gene Edwards

Dr. Gene Edwards was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. He was saved at 16, enlisted in the Navy out of High School and went straight to the fleet as a purchasing agent. He served two 6 month tours off Vietnam aboard the USS Neches and was stationed in Atsugi, Japan and Subic Bay Philippines before being assigned to Treasure Island, California.

He married his High School sweetheart and went to work as a purchasing agent for aircraft parts remanufacturing company and as part time music and youth pastor. He served in purchasing, and later as a service manager while serving part-time as a youth, bus, and couples pastor. He later purchased a GM automobile dealership in Huntsville, Texas but sold his interest in the company to his partners and enrolled at Sam Houston University. He served in various churches in the Houston area as part-time music and youth leader.

Gene moved back to San Antonio to plant Landmark Baptist Church and work for KDRY Radio. He then moved to Beaumont, Texas to produce a TV program for the Friendship Baptist Church and serve as Operations Manager for their Christian school, Day Care, Bus Ministry, etc.

He restarted the Bethel Baptist Church in Orange, Texas. He then restarted and served his first pastorate at Jefferson Drive Baptist Church in Liberty, Texas. He then moved to plant Spring Creek Baptist Church in Plano, Texas. He moved to become President of the Baptist Loan Association, Credit Union and Bond Company.

He then moved to restart Trinity Baptist Church. He left there in 1984 and has been at North Park Baptist Church, North Richland Hills for about 26 years.

During the years he graduated with a BS from Dallas Baptist University, attended Southwestern Seminary, Golden Gate, North Texas University, Dallas Theological, Criswell, Luther Rice and earned a Th.M. and Th.D. from Bethany Theological Seminary in 1992.
