Dr. Cox was educated at Truett-McConnell College, Cleveland, Georgia; Mercer University, Atlanta, Georgia; New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary; New Orleans, Louisiana; and Luther Rice Seminary, Atlanta, Georgia. He holds BA, M.Div. and D.Min. degrees from these intitutions.
He has been at North Metro First Baptist Church (formerly Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Duluth, Georgia) since 1980. The membership has grown from 500 people to 4,222 under his leadership. In the 20 years that Dr. Cox has served as pastor of the growing congregation, the church has baptized almost 3,000 people. In addition, a total of 134 have surrendered to full time Christian service.
Dr. Cox is in great demand as a speaker. He has spoken at the Southern Baptist Convetion Pastor's Conference; Chapel service at Liberty University, Lynchburg, Virginia; pre-game chapel service for the Altanta Hawks, and many other meetings around the world. He has served as President of the Georgia Baptist Convention; First-vice President of the Southern Baptist Convention, and in many positions of leadership throughout Baptist organizaitons.
