Dr. Bryan is currently the Georgia Baptist Convention Specialist for Cooperative Program Advancement and Endowment Ministries. He served as Pastor of Curtis Baptist Church in Augusta, GA for 17 years and more recently as Senior Pastor of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Atlanta, Georgia. He is the former Ministry Resource Consultant for the East Central Georgia - a ministry of the Georgia Baptist Convention. His responsibilities included 16 counties, 7 Baptist Associations and 256 churches within the region.
John has attended Wofford College, Spartanburg, SC; graduated from Emory University, Atlanta, GA; Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, TX; and, Columbia Theological Seminary, Decatur, GA. He graduated with B.A., M. Div., and D. Min. degrees.
Dr. Bryan has served in many church roles as pastor, staff member and interim pastoral roles. He has vast experience in Christian broadcasting and religious writing. He has been involved in denominational life through service on committees at the local, state and national level of Southern Baptist life. He was elected Vice President of the Georgia Baptist Convention in 1997-1998 and served as Chairman of the Committee on Committees for the Southern Baptist Convention in 2007.
He is married to his wife Clare and they have three married sons, two of whom are serving in Georgia Baptist ministries.
