Lives Under Construction

Bible Book: Philippians  1 : 6
Subject: Christian Living; Christian Growth
Introduction

This year’s theme for Vacation Bible School is on construction. We are under God’s construction. He is working in our lives “according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.” (2 Timothy 1:9)

I. Confident Work

A. Faith of the Believer.

“I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.” (2 Tim. 1:12)

B. Faithfulness of God.

“God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” (1 Cor. 1:9)

II. Conforming Work

A. Purpose of God.

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son.” (Rom. 8:28-29)

B. Power of God.

“Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” (1 Peter 1:5)

C. Perfecting of God.

“Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy.” (Jude 24)

D. Participation with God.

“. . . work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God who worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” (Phil. 2:12-13)

E. Provision of God.
1. Grace of God. (2 Cor. 12:9)

“My grace is sufficient for thee, for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly, therefore, will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore, I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then am I strong.” (2 Cor. 12:9-10)

"Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God."

1 Corinthians 2:12

2. Word of God. (2 Tim. 3:16-17)

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."  2 Timothy 3:16-17

3. Holy Spirit. (2 Cor. 3:18)

"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord."  2 Corinthians 3:18

“And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.” (1 Corinthians 15:49)

4. Privilege of prayer. (John 15:7)

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Phil. 4:19)

"If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you." John 15:7

III. Completed Work

A. Day of Completion. (Day Of Jesus Christ)
B. Destined for Glory.

“For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like his glorious body, according to the working by which he is able to subdue all things unto himself.” (Phil. 3:20-21)

Lessons For Life:

1. God’s purpose is to transform believers into the image of Jesus Christ.

2. Salvation is the work of God. He will complete what He has begun in us.

3. Believers are the work of God’s grace and are trophies for His glory.
