Introduction

Deuteronomy 8:1-20

Our past can be a very important tool in helping us learn how to live in the present and to be prepared for the future. God had delivered the Israelites from Egypt so they could inherit the promised Land. Their disobedience caused them to wander 40 years in the wilderness. Then Moses rehearsed with them their past failures and their promised future before their entrance into the promised land. Moses gave them a strong warning not to forget the Lord.

I. PAST REVIEWED

A. PURPOSE OF THE LORD.

1. Testing of the Israelites. (Deut. 8:2)

2. Chastening of the Israelites. (Deut. 8:5)

3. Blessing of the Israelites. (Deut. 8:16b)

B. PROVISION OF THE LORD.

1. Deliverance of Israel from Egypt. (Deut. 8:14b)

2. Providing for Israel in the wilderness. (Deut. 8:4, 15-16)

6. Ask the Lord to help you recognize the sin of pride and then confess it.

7. Remember God is faithful to complete the work He has begun in your life.
