Introduction

Learn the ten commandments of sin.

I. Sin Always Begins The Same Way

You can tell if something is of God. And you can guard the gates into your mind, heart, body and soul against the things that are not of God that would destroy you by setting a watch over three gates. There are only three kinds of sins. All sin enters the same way through one of these three gates. In 1 John 2:15-17. Every thing that is in the world is one of three things. The cravings of sinful man. The lust of his eyes. The boasting of who and what he is and what he does. First of all, she sought the lust of the eye. Then the lust of the flesh. Those cravings that come out of our old sinful nature. They are very closely connected to the lust of the eye. They are so closely connected that Jesus said that it is possible to allow lust to go so far and the craving of the flesh that one is actually guilty of the sin of adultery because he uses his eyes lustfully to allow the lust of the flesh to be stimulated. The lust of the eye and the lust of the flesh are very closely connected. The stimuli is the pride of life. The pride of life is a tendency in life to act independently of God. In every decision of life you come to a crossroads; who's going to be god? Will I obey Him or will obey my own lust and desire? If you do what He wants. You take self off the throne. If you do what you want. You put yourself on the throne of life. You are your own god. The lust of the eye. The cravings of the flesh. The pride of life. Every sin begins the same way.

II. Sin Always Has A Surprise Ending

Sin always has a surprise ending. Satan's ploy was you'll have everything that God has and you will live forever.

Fact: They were expelled from the garden. Lived only a few years. Died in pain.

III. Sin Leaves Clear Marks

There is a big difference in the result of sin and the forgiveness of sin. God's grace is immediate and real. But the mark of sin is never removed.

The second commandment: God is a jealous God visiting the sins of the parents to the third and fourth generation. Does not mean that kids and grandkids will pay for our sins. It means they are affected by our sins. The forgiveness is there the affect is already done. There is something worse than death. And that has to endure a living death. What ever you do those marks will never go away. God in His grace will forgive. If you kill somebody in a tragic accident. God will forgive you.

IV. Sin Always Gives Up What Is Valuable

Sin trades everything of value for something of no value whatsoever. Remember this. If you have an affair, you will be found out, or you will be so eaten with guilt you will have to admit it. One way or the other it will come to the surface. You will have to look into the face of your children and tell them why. Sin trades everything of value for something with no value whatsoever. There has never been a man that has an affair with a woman who wasn't less than what he had at home.

V. You Can't Win In Sin

You can't beat the odds in the game of sin. In every person who sins there is always this scenario that goes on. Something says I'm different. I want get caught. You do not break the commandments of God. You only break yourself on the commandments of God. God has no favorites. God strikes on bargains and makes no deals. The wages of sin is death. The gift of God is eternal life.

VI. The Effect Of Sin Can Last For Centuries

The effect of sin can last for centuries. The third and fourth generation and beyond. The bombings of today are a result of Abraham stepped out of the will of God 4,000 years ago.

VII. God's Patience For Sin Can Be Exhausted

God's patience for sin can be exhausted. Did you know that when God said build an ark, he kept that door open 120 years? Did you also know that unto the believer there is a sin unto death? The only way that God can be faithful to keep you eternally saved and take you to heaven and not tolerate your sin, is to take you out of the world prematurely.

VIII. The Greatest Thrill Of Sin Is Always First

The greatest thrill of sin is always the first. No matter what the sin the greatest of sin is always the first. You will always try to get that thrill back by doing it over and over again. This is where you become addicted.

IX. There Is Only One Cure For Sin

There is only one cure for sin. When Adam and Eve had sinned they where conscience of it. The glory of God enhances everything good about a person. And when you sin you lose the glory. The glory of Jesus Christ is created in the presences of a godly life that enhances everything good about us. God said the only thing that I will accept is the death of an animal. Because the wages of sin is death. The solution to death requires a death of an innocent substitute. All those animals that were innocent and shed their blood in the Old Testament where just a foreshadow of what was to come. The only substitute that God accepts for your sin and mine is the death of an innocent substitute. But when Jesus died on the cross He died once for all and said it is finished. There was forgiveness provided in Christ if you would come and receive the cleansing of his blood and apply to your heart in faith. So now God sees you as holy and perfect because you are not seen in your sin. You are now being seen through the righteousness of Jesus Christ.

X. Decide Not To Sin Before You Sin

The decision not to sin must be made in advance of the opportunity to sin. You don't establish your moral code and set your spiritual boundaries in the back seat of a convertible on prom night. You set it at youth camp. You set it at Bible study. You set it in church. This is it. You must make the decision not to sin in advance of the opportunity. Not when your heart is caught up and your passions are all full of emotion.
