James A. "Jackie" Kay was born September 4, 1950, in Hunstville, Alabama. He is married to Elizabeth Lee Terry, also of Hunstville. They have three children and seven grandchildren.

Jackie graduated from the University of North Alabama in Florence, Alabama with a B.S. Degree in 1976. He graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with M. Div. and D. Min. degrees in 1982 and 9185 respectively.

His last pastorate grew from 570 in Sunday School to 1,200 in average weekly attendance, with 2,400 additions and over 650 baptisms. His church was featured among Dr. Elmer Town's "Fastest Growing Churches in America" and the Fastest Growing Sunday Schools in Tennessee in 1988. He entered full-time evangelism in 1995 founding "Looking Up Ministries," which he continues to this day.

He was recently called to be Pastor of Central Park Baptist Church, Decatur, Alabama. He began his duties as Pastor on April 12, 2009.

Jackie served as President, Tennessee Baptist Pastor's Conference, in 1991. He was President, Tennessee Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary Alumni Association that year as well. He has led Seminary Chapel Services & Graduation services at Mid America Baptist Theological Seminary, Memphis, TN. He has spoken at Tennessee Baptist Convention (2); Tennessee Baptist Pastors' Conference (4); Tennessee Baptist Evangelists' Conference; and Union University chapel services and Pastors' School.
